From Essex to Costessey

Essex man Paul Foster brings his Slimming World success to Norwich.
A successful Slimming World consultant who relocated to Norwich from Essex last year, is on a mission to spread the Slimming World love to Costessey. Paul Foster, a long-standing member himself, has lost an impressive 2½ stone since August 2017 and has proudly maintained his target weight for almost four years.
After years of being active as an Army Reserve Officer, Paul began to feel increasingly sluggish, and the aches and pains were starting to build up. He realised something had to change. “My health was starting to suffer,” he said. “Even though I was active, it was taking its toll.” When Paul took over his local Slimming World group in Maldon, he quickly discovered his passion for helping others.
Supporting members on their weight-loss journeys became deeply rewarding, and in time he was regularly helping more than 250 people across his groups. “Walking through the door was the hardest part. I wrongly assumed slimming groups were just for women. I never imagined I could become a consultant myself. But once I stepped inside, I realised I didn’t need to be nervous at all. The group was friendly, fun and welcoming.”
Paul still recalls losing an incredible 7.5lbs in his very first week. The plan instantly clicked with his lifestyle — especially since he enjoys hearty, satisfying meals. “I was amazed at how much I could eat and still lose weight. My favourites are a big brunch breakfast and Slimming World curries,” he said. Although he never considered himself a natural cook, with the help of his wife he soon discovered that nothing was off limits.
These days, Paul feels he has a brand-new lease of life — perfect for keeping up with his grandsons. “I love being the naughty grandad,” he laughs. “Running around in the park with them keeps me fit and healthy too.” Paul hopes that sharing his story will inspire more people to take that first step. “You don’t have to exercise to lose weight. The plan is simple, flexible, and you’ll never need to go hungry. And if you want one, you can still enjoy a beer or a glass of wine!” “Come on — make that first step. You won’t regret it.”
If you’d like to find out more, you’re warmly invited to join Paul at the Owen Barnes Room, Breckland Hall in Costessey on Wednesday evenings at 5:30pm or 7pm. His brand-new group launched on 7th January. Why not pop along? It might just change your life.
