Boost for local safety and community support

Taverham Lions are helping to keep the community safe and supported, from installing bleed control kits outside local village halls to providing “Message in a Bottle” packs for dementia support, the club is making a real difference.
Last year, Taverham Lions were deeply moved by a presentation from the Joe Dix Foundation. The Foundation honours Joe Dix, who tragically lost his life in a stabbing incident. A bleed control kit might have saved him, inspiring the Lions to take action to protect their community.
In a bid to improve public safety, Taverham Lions are installing bleed control kits outside village halls across the area. Recently, a kit was supplied to Drayton Parish Council for the Longdale Pavilion. Lion President Nigel presented the kit to Peter of the Drayton Village Hall committee. The kits are securely stored in the defibrillator cabinet outside each hall, providing vital resources for anyone who may need them in an emergency.

The Lions have also continued their work supporting vulnerable groups. Sue and Hazel recently presented “Message in a Bottle” packs to Duncan’s Club at the Nest in Norwich, which supports individuals living with dementia. These packs allow personal and medical information to be stored in a small bottle kept in the fridge, while a sticker on the front door alerts emergency services to its presence. Local residents can get their free Message in a Bottle pack via their Lions Club. More information is available at Lions Message in a Bottle.
Beyond charitable activities, the Lions enjoy social gatherings. A post-Christmas lunch at Wensum Valley Hotel brought together 27 Lions, partners, and friends for a festive catch-up.
Taverham Lions welcome new faces to their meetings and events. Anyone interested in joining or learning more can email info@taverhamlions.club, visit their website at www.taverhamlions.club, or follow them on Facebook at fb.me/TaverhamLions.
