On the up at Garrick Green

There was a regal feel to playtime, when Norwich pupils returned to school after the Easter break.
The children at Garrick Green Infant School were able to enjoy a new ‘climbing castle’, which had been installed on the main school field, following a successful fundraising campaign by the Friends of Garrick Green (FOGG).
“The structure was installed by Sovereign Play, and we specifically chose this type of equipment to enhance the range of physical play opportunities available to our children during playtime and lunchtime,” explained Liz Banner, Head of School at Garrick Green, which is a member of the Wensum Trust.
“We know that increased physical activity plays a vital role in supporting children’s overall development, and this addition helps encourage active, imaginative, and engaging play for all.”
The volunteers at FOGG held a series of fundraising events, and also secured grants from Geoffrey Watling and RC Snelling, as well as receiving matched funding from Aviva.
“The FOGG team have worked so hard to plan exciting events and activities to raise money for the castle,” added Miss Banner.
“The children were very excited to start using it after Easter, and were eager to watch the build happen.”
